With cheerful applause and beaming smiles, our first graders were warmly welcomed into the DSG auditorium — surrounded by their families, friends, guests, fellow primary school children, teachers, Primary School Head Ms. Wermelt, and School Principal Mr. Greulich.
The enrollment ceremony, traditionally held two days after the start of school, marks a very special moment — for the children, their families, and the entire school community.
Class 4, the first graders’ buddy class, delighted the audience with a creative “DSG Airline” story and a lovingly prepared stage performance featuring music and theatre.
One of the highlights was the symbolic handover of the traditional Schultüte (school cone) by the older buddies — a moment filled with pride and excitement. Each first grader also received a sunflower from their class teacher, symbolizing a bright beginning and a warm welcome to our school.
New students in Grades 5 and 6, as well as in the upper secondary level, were also introduced and greeted with a sunflower. A short stage program added to the joyful atmosphere and helped set a positive tone for the new school year.
The sunflower — a symbol of light, togetherness, and growing together. That’s how the school year begins at DSG: open-hearted, welcoming, and full of anticipation.
We wish all new and returning members of our school community a sunny start to the school year!
