The Deutsche Schule Genf afternoon programme accompanies students from Grades 1 to 9 beyond the regular school day. In a stimulating and supportive environment, children and young people have the opportunity to develop their interests, discover new activities, build friendships and enjoy meaningful experiences together.
An integral part of school life at DSG, the afternoon programme offers a wide range of enriching experiences that foster independence, creativity and social skills while complementing classroom learning through engaging, hands-on activities.
Led by DSG teachers as well as qualified internal and external specialists, the programme combines academic learning with practical experiences, creative projects and collaborative activities.
Primary School Afternoon Activities
For our younger students, creativity, movement, play and shared discovery are at the heart of the programme. Children benefit from a well-structured environment that combines supervised study time, leisure activities and age-appropriate workshops.
The programme offers a wide variety of activities, including sports games, tennis, multisports, arts and crafts, photography projects, drawing, improvisation theatre, the school newspaper, cooking and woodworking.

New from the 2026/27 School Year
Whether students are interested in creativity, sports, science or practical skills, they can pursue their passions, discover new interests and develop their talents across a wide range of activities.
A key feature of the programme is the daily supervised study session. Guided by teachers, this dedicated time allows students to work independently, consolidate their learning, complete homework and receive personalised support whenever needed.
Afterwards, students can choose how to spend their afternoon based on their interests. Whether taking part in sports, creative projects or simply enjoying time with friends, the afternoon activities provide opportunities to relax, connect and make the most of their time after school.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to register my child for specific activities when enrolling?
To help us plan our various workshops and activities effectively, we kindly ask all families to register their child for the activities they wish to attend.
Registration for the Afternoon Programme entitles your child to participate in the childcare service but does not replace registration for individual workshops and activities. These must be booked separately.

Can my child take part in more than one activity?
Yes. Students can participate in more than one activity. The final selection depends on the child’s age, the availability of places and their individual timetable.
Are all activities included in the afternoon programme fee?
Most activities are included in the afternoon programme fee. A small number of activities, such as DSG on the Road – Horse Riding and tennis, may incur an additional fee. Full details can be found in the individual activity descriptions.
Is supervised study time mandatory?
Yes. For students in Grades 5–9, supervised study time is an integral part of the afternoon programme. Held daily from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., it gives students the opportunity to work independently, consolidate their learning, complete homework and receive personalised support from teachers.
Can my child leave the afternoon programme at different times?
Yes. Designated pick-up and departure times apply to the different parts of the programme. Families will receive detailed information about the arrangements in advance.
Who leads the activities?
The activities are led by DSG teachers as well as qualified internal and external specialists.
Are language support courses available?
Yes. German and French language support courses are available for students in Grades 1–4. Participation is recommended by the class teacher. Registration is handled separately through the Language School.
When will the new afternoon programme be introduced?
The expanded afternoon programme for students in Grades 5–9 will be launched in the 2026/27 school year. Information about the activities, schedules and registration process is available on this website.
