Descriptions (Ateliers 5-9)

For students in Grades 5 to 9! This is where music, teamwork and the joy of singing come together! Everyone has a beautiful voice – including you! Together, we’ll learn to sing songs from a wide variety of musical genres in harmony, from pop and rock to many other styles. Throughout the school year, we’ll perform at a range of school events, including Oktoberfest, the Christmas Celebration, the Gala and many other musical highlights.

Ready to hit the ice? Join our Ice Skating Club!

Whether you’re learning to skate for the first time or looking to improve your technique, our Ice Skating Club is the perfect place to do it. Beginners and experienced skaters alike are welcome. Together, we’ll practise, have fun and enjoy time on the ice.

Students in Grades 5 and 6 have the opportunity to develop their French skills in a small-group setting through engaging and creative activities. The focus is on speaking, writing and using French confidently in authentic, real-life situations.

Through project-based learning, students actively shape their own learning experience. Whether through theatre, filmmaking, documentaries, presentations, creative writing or cooking together, French is experienced in a wide variety of meaningful contexts.

Throughout the school year, students work on a range of exciting projects, including short films, weather reports, original stories and short plays. Along the way, they strengthen not only their language skills but also their creativity, confidence and communication abilities.

This activity is ideal for students who enjoy learning French and would like to further develop their communication skills.

Discover the joy of cooking while learning, step by step, how to prepare a variety of delicious dishes. Working with fresh ingredients, students develop essential cooking and baking skills while learning how to use kitchen equipment safely and confidently.

Throughout the school year, students embark on a culinary journey exploring different cuisines and themes. They begin with European dishes, move on to sweet treats and desserts, discover the flavours of Italian cuisine and finish the year by exploring the rich tastes of Asia.

Students learn to prepare a wide range of dishes independently. Their creations can either be enjoyed together during the workshop or taken home to share with family.

This activity is perfect for anyone who enjoys cooking, discovering new flavours and developing their culinary skills.

Discover the stories behind words

Why are some words spelled the way they are? Where do unusual expressions come from? The German language is full of fascinating stories, surprising origins and curious expressions waiting to be discovered.

This activity is perfect for students who enjoy writing, playing with language and expanding their vocabulary. Together, we’ll explore the origins of words and expressions, analyse language and develop our creativity through a variety of writing exercises.

Whether you’re interested in storytelling, language or simply enjoy writing, you’ll find plenty of inspiration here.

How does an idea become a finished project?

In this workshop, students learn how to design, plan and build their own wooden creations. Along the way, they develop practical skills using tools, materials and a variety of woodworking techniques.

Throughout the school year, students work together on a larger project while completing smaller practical exercises. The workshop combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, including the use of 3D printers.

This activity is ideal for students who enjoy building, designing and creating with their hands.

Interested in technology, problem-solving and teamwork?

Then join our LEGO® Spike Prime Robotics Club!

Students work together to build robots using LEGO® Spike Prime, programme them and tackle exciting engineering challenges. Through hands-on projects, they discover the fundamentals of robotics, coding and problem-solving — no previous experience required.

What to expect:

• Creative building with LEGO® Spike Prime
• An introduction to coding
• Team-based engineering projects
• Participation in the DSG STEM Showcase at the end of the school year

This activity is designed for curious students who enjoy science and would like to expand their knowledge beyond the classroom.

Together, we’ll explore fascinating topics in physics and astronomy. Students will build sundials and star charts, learn navigation and orientation techniques, analyse astronomical observations and carry out a wide range of scientific experiments.

Observation, experimentation and discovery are at the heart of this activity, making it ideal for students who love asking questions and exploring the world through science.

In partnership with TC Vernier and under the guidance of Patrizio Maucci, students can take tennis lessons in small groups on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Groups are limited to a maximum of four students, ensuring personalised coaching for every participant. Lessons are available for all ability levels, from complete beginners to advanced players.

Students are accompanied to and from the tennis club by members of the afternoon programme staff.

The cost is CHF 20 per lesson (groups of four) and is charged in addition to the afternoon programme fee.

Discover the fascinating world of clay

In this workshop, students explore the creative possibilities of working with clay. They begin by learning a variety of modelling techniques and discovering how to use different tools and materials.

They then put their new skills into practice by creating their own projects. From mugs, vases and plates to flutes, board games and imaginative sculptures, there is plenty of room for creativity. Finally, each piece is glazed, giving it its own unique finish and colour.

At the end of the school year, students present their creations in a small exhibition.
