From January 5 to January 9, 2026, the Year 11 class set off for Leipzig and Weimar on what could truly be called the ultimate study trip — combining university insights, sports, history, and of course a solid dose of Abitur preparation!
Leipzig, known both for the Battle of the Nations and as the birthplace of the peaceful revolution of 1989, and Weimar, the city of Goethe and Schiller overlooking the Ettersberg with its former Nazi concentration camp, offered the students a remarkable variety of contrasts.
A wealth of museums, encounters with contemporary witnesses, and guided tours provided them with plenty of food for thought and learning.
Adding to this were numerous sports challenges and, naturally, the ever‑popular 5‑euro döner, which many counted among the trip’s highlights — making the long train ride much more bearable.
Several of our Year 11 students are already considering studying in Leipzig, inspired in part by the stories shared by DSG alumni currently studying or pursuing their doctorates there.
