This year once again, our class representatives from Grades 1 to 6 took part in a debate held at the Mairie de Vernier, alongside pupils from Ecole Vernier Place, Ecole des Ranches, Ecole des Tattes and Ecole Vernier Village.
Discussing the question “Should school hours at Geneva primary schools be changed?”, our pupils spoke confidently in favour of the shorter school days they currently enjoy. They participated with great interest and enthusiasm, explaining how they value having more time in the afternoons to pursue sports and musical activities. They highlighted how important this flexibility is for their overall well-being and balance.
In contrast, pupils from the local Vernier schools expressed their satisfaction with the existing timetable, particularly appreciating the longer lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., which allows them to recharge before afternoon lessons.
In their final reflections, all students shared how much they appreciated the opportunity to take part in the debate and to experience the formal setting of the Vernier Town Hall.
